LED Lamps socket G9
LED lamps – simply plug in using a G9 socket
Whereas older types of incandescent bulbs usually required "the right amount of twist" to fix their socket in the holder, a small "click" is often all that is needed with LED lamps. In particular, LEDs equipped with a G9 socket can simply be inserted into the socket just like a small power plug to ensure smooth supply of power. At LTT, you can choose from a whole range of LED lamps with G9 socket from well-known manufacturers.
Originally, the plug-in socket types, whose name begins with a "G", were developed for compact fluorescent lamps, which included a so-called starter in the lamp. This was located in the cuboid block of plastic placed between the two pin-shaped contacts on the socket. Modern LED lamps with a G9 type socket no longer need a starter, but they have retained the principle of supplying power via two pins protruding from the illuminant. The socket solution also declared as bipin socket standardisation (two pin, bipin cap of bipin socket) is also the standard for the halogen lamp sockets and is often known as the Westinghouse socket after its inventor. Incidentally, the letter "G" stands for glass, of which the socket is usually made, while the number after it indicates the distance between the two pins in millimetres. These pins are made of metal, which hardly corrodes even at higher temperatures, and are rounded or pointed at the end to make it easy to insert into the contact springs of the holder.
